About RSA Nederland
A passion for regional science.
What does RSA-Nederland do?
The Regional Science Association Netherlands (RSA-NL) is a foundation concerned with research and policy on regional and urban economic and social issues. RSA-NL is strongly multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary, and its members include economists, geographers, planners, demographers and sociologists. They work at universities, as well as at local, regional and national government bodies and consultancies. At least twice a year, meetings are organised on current topics, at which academic and policy experience is exchanged and which often result in publications.
Academic discipline
Regional Science is an academic discipline with a growing number of participants worldwide, focusing on the development of quantitative methods and techniques for regional and spatial research, and their application in planning and policy. RSA-NL combines a regional and urban focus with a strong international orientation, as it is affiliated with the European Regional Science Association (ERSA), which in turn is one of the three major academic organisations within the Regional Science Association International (RSAI). Each year, these international organisations hold congresses at which Dutch-speaking researchers are usually well represented. RSA-NL currently has 170 members from the Netherlands and Flanders.
Membership
Membership of RSA-NL costs 40 euros per year. Members receive substantial discounts on the national meetings (2 per year), the European Regional Science Congress and the International Regional Science Congress. Members have free access to the electronic version of the journal Papers in Regional Science. Participants in the Dutch conferences receive the resulting books free of charge.
